It is a series of low-level unrated combined training events with all three phases (dressage, cross-country and stadium jumping) taking place in one day. The purpose of eventing is to test the skills and talents of horses and riders in three different disciplines. Our courses are inviting and friendly and are intended for riders and/or horses entering the world of eventing. We offer year-end awards and lots of fun competition. The series is completely run and staffed by volunteers.
FALL UPDATE: We
work hard to make eventing fun in West Newbury and we are looking
forward to our October Horse Trials at such a pretty time of year. We are
offering a new division for this event this time, the MODIFIED NOVICE
division. This division is a transitional division, which we are known
for, and will consist of the Novice A dressage test, the Beginner
Novice cross-country course, and a Novice stadium course with a maximum
height of 2'11". This division will not qualify for Year End Awards.
This year we have added two new jumps. The
Echo "Ditch" is a great introduction to ditches for our Beginner Novice
and Modified Novice competitors, as it isn't quite a ditch but has all
the
aspects of one. The Fieldmaster Floating Log, for our Modified
Beginner Novice and Elementary riders will be completed for the fall
event. This fall we also look forward to the re-opening of the newly
repaired Chamberlain Bank jump, which the Club did a major rebuild on
this spring, and the footing has been settling and the grass growing all
summer. Of course, the lovely fall decorations are not to be missed!
VOLUNTEERS
allow these events to happen and they provide the funding for the
improvements we are able to make, as well as our donations. Just this
year alone, WNRDC has added footing to one of the rings, built or
rebuilt 3 jumps, and helped fund major improvements to the Riverbend
trail system. Please come ride or volunteer!! Volunteers, please
contact
Volunteer Coordinators, Kathryn West McLeod, kwest978@comcast.net, or Sophiea Bitel, bitel@msn.com.
